that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Happy Wednesday!

Don’t give up. You will have a reason to rejoice and you will be glad you stayed patient. That’s our focus for today’s newsletter and podcast.

Before we jump into today’s devotional, I want to you mind you about your list. On last Monday’s newsletter and podcast, I shared about a list that you must make to set yourself up for success in 2026. Listen to the podcast, read the newsletter, and make the list.

This season is known for its festive lights and its Christmas cheer. However, trying circumstances attempt to rob us of our Christmas cheer and joy throughout the year. However, James 1:2 instructs us to be joyful and choose joy despite the circumstances.

The RIV translates James 1:2 this way, “My dearest brothers and fellow comrades, I urge you right now to make a predetermined decision — not one left to chance, emotions, or circumstances — that in absolutely everything you face in life, you are going to have joy. I’m even talking about times when you find yourself taken off guard, falling into and being completely surrounded by all kinds of difficulties, problems, and situations that have been sent to entrap you, trip you up, make you stumble, or produce destruction in your life.”

No matter what we face, we have to decide to choose joy. God did not send the negative situation to teach you something. However, God can turn that situation around for your good. It will be so good that you will have a reason to rejoice. Since you will have a reason to rejoice, you might as well start rejoicing today. That is what patience, defined as cheerful endurance, does.

Cheerful endurance gives you the ability to stay constant with a good attitude in the face of pressure and negative circumstances. Choose to be patient today in the small things and the big things. In today’s podcast, I share what patience is doing in you as you continually choose joy. Listen to it and share it with others.

Pray this prayer with me today, “Father, thank you for loving me. Your love lives within me. Thank you for loving me so much that you want to help and fix things in my life. As I make my list, help me to focus and grant me ears to hear what you have to say about these areas. Thank you for placing patience within me. Show me the areas that I need to adjust and the habits I need to change. I receive your help, wisdom, and strength. Thank you for leading me and guiding me! Thank you for being with me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
