So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Good Morning,
Happy Monday! This is going to be a great week for you! Today, I want to share with you three keys to make sure it is a great week and help you continue your journey in this month of success.
Over the last few weeks, we have been uncovering the importances of our words. They have creative power. They have the ability to encourage and strengthen, but also the ability to hinder and break. The wise person knows how to use their tongue wisely and rightly. They understand the importance of their words and know how to speak life into people and situations. What James shares in James 1:19 helps us embrace and apply the truth when it comes to the words that we speak.
James 1:19-20, says “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”
Here are the three keys we are going to focus on today and unpack this week. If we want this to be a great week, we need to be:
🔑 Quick To Hear
🔑 Slow To Speak
🔑 Slow To Wrath
We need to be quick to hear God’s Word. Quick to listen for the direction of the Spirit. Quick to hear to make sure we are actively listening and not always responding with partial truth and information. When we are not quick to hear, we miss direction from the Lord and make poor decisions. When we are quick to hear, we can make wise decisions for our week.
We are in a culture that is quick to speak and that often gets us into trouble. When we are slow to speak, we can consider our words carefully. This also gives us the opportunity to consider what God’s Word says about the situation. In addition, being slow to speak gives us a chance to pause and listen for the Holy Spirit’s leading within our hearts. The Holy Spirit will lead you in the words you should say. When we say the right things, our words positively impact our week and are a blessing to others.
We also have to be slow to wrath. We need to grow in the fruits of the Spirit called meekness and self-control. When we are quick to wrath, we say things we shouldn’t, we get ourselves in trouble, and cause additional hardships for our week. When we are slow to wrath, we can handle difficult situations with the wisdom of God and the fruit of the Spirit.
Let’s work on applying these three keys this week. We will continue to discuss them in this week’s newsletters and podcasts.
