Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6 "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who [is] in the secret [place]; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

I am the salt of the earth. I am the light of this world. Jesus said it so I believe it. I am a carrier of the Glory of God. Today, I will experience the extreme goodness of God. Today, I make myself available for God to show His goodness to others through me.  Today, I am increasing in influence. Today, I will see the goodness of God in my life! Today, something good is going to happen to me so I expect miracles.

This is going to be a great week for you! Did you know that God wants you to be reward minded? He desires to reward you in this life and in Heaven. Here’s something people do not realize about receiving their rewards: the key is hidden in their routine.

In Matthew 6:5-6, Jesus says, “5 "And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6 "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who [is] in the secret [place]; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”

What are hypocrites? Although people have placed a modern religious meaning on the word, the word simply means an actor. In Jesus’ day, the street performers who portrayed theatric pieces on the side of the road were called hypocrites. They had masks and everyone knew they were actors. They were pretending. Everything was fake.

In this passage, Jesus tells us not be actors when it comes to our prayer life. He said the actors pray in public so that they can be admired by others. Jesus plainly stated that their reward is the admiration of others. However, he told us to pray a different way.

Was Jesus saying that we couldn’t pray publicly? Of course not! He is highlighting motives and being genuine. So, yes you can pray publicly.

We know that we should be people of prayer. We should routinely start our days in prayer. We should pray through out the day. This is a routine all believers should adopt. The majority of people will not see your prayer life, but they will see the results of it.

Jesus said that the Father will reward you publicly because of your prayer life. The key to the reward was hidden in a life of routinely praying. I’ll end sharing this quote from John Maxwell. He said, “The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine.”

Your reward is in your routine, my friend. What do you need to change where your routine is concerned? What do you need to start doing? What do you need to stop doing? What do you need to schedule better?
