Today’s Scripture 🍞
All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole [duty] for every man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good or evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (AMPC)
Today’s Devotional 📖
Happy Friday,
It’s the weekend! As we enter into this weekend, I want to share with you the reason King Solomon wrote the Book of Ecclesiastes. When you journeyed through the book, you may have noticed how Solomon asked certain questions and made certain observations. Through our New Covenant and the work of the Holy Spirit, we can see how what God accomplished through Christ answered all of those things.
In today’s verse above, Solomon shares the point of the book and the “whole duty of man.” It all comes down to the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is a constant topic of this book and the Book of Proverbs. However, the fear of the Lord is not being scared of God. The fear of the Lord is living in reverential awe for God, His Word, and His ways.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of true knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. It is a solid foundation for all of your decision making. Today, pray the daily prayer for 2026 knowing that God wants to give you wisdom and cause you to grow wiser every single day. After you pray this prayer, pause and take time to listen. Always remember, prayer is not complete until you take time to listen.
In today’s podcast, I share more about Solomon’s summary of Ecclesiastes. If you’re reading through the Bible with us this year, your chapter reminders are below. If you want a pdf print out of the plan, click here. Stream today’s podcast and share it with others. We complete Ecclesiastes on Saturday and begin with Matthew on Sunday. I’m praying for you!
