Today’s Scripture 🍞
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have [its] perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
James 1:2-5 (NKJV)
Today’s Devotional 📖
Good Morning,
Happy Tuesday! God has wisdom for you today to help you overcome every trial and challenge you are facing! I also have exciting news to share with you!
First, I want to highlight our upcoming Imagine Conference at Faith Christian Center. Every year, we take an extended time to pray, hear from God, biblically use our imagination, and plot actionable steps to get ready for the coming year. This conference is designed to help you do that! It’s full of information, inspiration, and impartation. The conference is free and I would love to see you there. If you cannot make it in person, stream every session online. Register today so that I know you’re coming!
This has truly been a month of open doors, opportunities, and breakthroughs. I want to encourage you to believe for those three things the rest of this month and the rest of this year. Earlier this month, we began discussions with a major television network about expanding Faith in the Morning. What does that mean? If we move forward, in addition to our weekday podcast devotionals & newsletter, we will air a 30 minute program. I want to hear from you! What would you like to see in the 30 minute program? Vote in today’s poll to let me know! Thanks for your help. Let’s dive into today’s devotional!
The Apostle James begins his letter to the early Church with instructions for them to consider it joy when they fall into trials and negative circumstances. Let’s be real. That is not our first reaction when we face something negative. We have a range of emotions, but joy usually isn’t the first one. Why should we consider it joy? Because we know the outcome of the situation.
James continues and says that the testing of our faith produces patience. (By the way, James later shares that God isn’t the one testing us. God did not send you a problem to teach you something or make you stronger.) When patience completes its work with us, we will be complete lacking nothing. We consider the challenge joyful because we know that we will win and will not lack anything.
James then adds that we can ask God for wisdom when we don’t know what to do. Many times when unexpected trials show up, we are at a loss for direction. However, we don’t have to be! The Scripture says that God will give us wisdom when we ask in faith.
Today, ask God for wisdom about whatever you are dealing with. After you ask for wisdom, thank Him for giving you wisdom. Do not start saying, “I don’t know what I’m going to do.” Instead say, “The Holy Spirit is leading me and guiding me to all truth. God is giving me wisdom and filling me with the knowledge of His will.” Take time to listen for God’s leading throughout the day.
