But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

God wants us filled to overflowing with every good thing - especially the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). You do not achieve this goal by will power. Beating yourself up won’t help you get there. You are in a constant state of development.

In Philippians 1:11, we see how we are to achieve this goal. It is a prayer of Paul and it is a prayer I pray for you! It says, “May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation--the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ--for this will bring much glory and praise to God.”

Notice, it says the fruit is produced in your life by Jesus Christ. In John 15, Jesus teaches about producing large amounts of fruit that remains. In verse 6 He says, “apart from me you can do nothing.”

It’s in relationship, fellowship, and partnership with our Lord that we develop to the point that we overflow with every good thing. Today, remember He has forgiven you, He is with you, He is working on you, and He is working through you. Acknowledge Him and remember, you are never alone! He will never leave your no forsake you. Throughout the day say, “Jesus, thank you for being with me! Christ in me is the hope of glory!”

Help me to embrace the power of the pause, live gratefully, and enter into the rhythm of rest for my life. Show me the areas that I need to adjust and the habits I need to change. I receive your help, wisdom, and strength. Thank you for leading me and guiding me! Thank you for being with me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
