Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.

Good Morning,
Your life follows your words. Your words steer your life! Did you know that? If you do not like the way your life is heading, it is time to change what you are saying.
James 3:2-4 (NKJV), says, “For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he [is] a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.”
In this passage from James, the Spirit of God shows us the power of our words. In the same way the captain turns the wheel to steer the ship, just like we turn the steering wheel to steer our car, our words steer our life. Where are you steering your life today?
Hebrews 10:35 (NKJV) says, “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.” The confidence described here can be defined as boldness in action and speech. Our confidence is not based on our natural ability, but our faith in God, His Word, His character, and our understanding of His marvelous mercy and amazing grace. Our communication should communicate our confidence. We should speak boldly and positively about our day because we know our God, His character, His grace, and His mercy. Our positive, bold speech is a vital part of our confidence and steers our life in the right direction.
If you aren’t speaking positive, Scriptural, bold things about your life and day, it is time to start. Maybe your steered yourself down the wrong path, well, it’s time to make a u-turn and get back on the right path. As you regularly talk about these things through faith filled confessions and affirmations and yield to the leading of the Spirit of God, you will get back on the right path for your life. Don’t give up if the change isn’t immediate or if it is hard to change the way you speak. It takes work to retrain the way you speak. However, the results are worth it!
In today’s podcast, I lead you in even more confessions and affirmations from a book I use to build my faith and confidence. (Some of you have reached out for more information about the book. It is called God’s Creative Power by Charles Capps and you can order it with a 15% discount here.) Will you stream the podcast and say these affirmations along with me? They will help you retrain the way that you speak and steer your life in the right direction. Stream today’s podcast devotional on YouTube, Apple Podcast or Spotify and pre-order your copy of the Rhythm of Rest.
