Happy Thursday! In our Faith+ reading plan, we have begun our journey through the Bible with the Wisdom Books. If you are following along with us, we have completed James, Ecclesiastes, and will be finishing the Book of Proverbs in just a few days. As we read through Proverbs, we see over 23 different personalities highlighted in its chapters.

The personalities of Proverbs are there to help us to “ponder the path of our feet” and consider our ways. They show us that God’s ways are better. They help us to want emulate the wise, good, righteous, and other positive personalities. It shows us that we do not want to be the proud, foolish, or the scoffer. In today’s verse and podcast devotional, we see that the path of the wise gets higher, better, and brighter.

Let’s take a look at a few personalities and their results today. Proverbs 10:21-24 says, “The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom. 22 The blessing of the LORD makes [one] rich, And He adds no sorrow with it. 23 To do evil [is] like sport to a fool, But a man of understanding has wisdom. 24 The fear of the wicked will come upon him, And the desire of the righteous will be granted.”

A righteous person words provide wisdom, knowledge, and nourishment. However, fools die because they lack wisdom. This also lets you know that fools are not listening to the words of the righteous.

The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich. This isn’t referring to spiritual things. It is referring to financial and material matters. The world has a way to grow rich, but it comes with many troubles. God has a way to increase you without sorrow. The word sorrow means painful toil. (I’ll share more about that in today’s podcast.)

As this passage continues, we see the actions and rewards of the fools and the wicked. What the wicked fear will manifest in their lives. However, those who live righteously will see their desires granted.

Today, pray the daily prayer for 2026 knowing that God wants to give you wisdom and take time to consider what we are reading in Proverbs. After you pray this prayer, pause and take time to listen. Always remember, prayer is not complete until you take time to listen.
