Today’s Devotional 📖
Good Morning,
As we have covered this week, God loves you, He is good, and He wants to give you the desires of your heart! It’s not wrong to have desires. It’s part of how God created us to be. The Heavenly Father is actually interested in granting us the desires of our hearts because of His great love for us. A desire is simply something we want.
When we talk about praying concerning things that we want, people often ask, “What if I have the wrong desire?” The key to that question is found in Psalm 37:3 and 4. The passage, as we covered over the last few weeks, tells us to trust God and do good. Verse 4 tells us to delight ourselves in the Lord. What does that mean? It means to find our happiness in God, to enjoy serving God, and to find our delight in God. As we do this, trust God, and do good, the Holy Spirit is able to work on our hearts and deal with wrong desires.
As you grow in relationship with Him, there are times where He will pinpoint those desires and ask you to give them up. It may be a hard thing for you to give up. However, this is where the trust factor comes in. Whenever God asks you to give up something, it’s because He has something far better for you! You can believe that something better is coming your way!
Isaiah 1:19 tells us that the willing and obedient eat the good of the land. The willing and the obedient get the best out of life. Notice, it is not just the obedient. It is the willing and the obedient.
There are times when God changes our plans and we don’t want them changed. There are times when God asks us to give up things that we don’t want to give up. However, because we know it is Him - we do it anyways. We are obedient. Although, we may struggle in the “willing” department.
How do you become willing in an area where you really don’t want to be obedient? Ask God for His help to become willing. Philippians 2:13 says, “for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for [His] good pleasure.” The Holy Spirit lives inside of you to help you to do what is right and to help you want to do what is right.
Today, simply pray, “God, help me to be willing in this area. I trust you!’ That prayer is far more powerful than you know! There’s so much more I want to share with you in today’s podcast! You can stream today’s podcast on YouTube, Apple Podcast or Spotify. I’m praying for you! Have a great day!
Today’s Prayer 🙏
Pray this prayer with me today, “Father, thank you for loving me. I believe that you have good plans for my life. Help me to develop my faith and become a faith champion. Help me to stay consistent and faithful. I believe I am going from glory to glory, faith to faith, and strength to strength. I believe that you love me, that you are good, and that you want to give me the desires of my heart. I trust you. When you ask me to give up wrong desires, I believe you have better for me. Help me to be willing and obedient. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
