(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Romans 4:17-21 (KJV)

Good Morning,
Happy Friday! This is going to be a great day and a wonderful weekend for you! I pray that your day is supernaturally productive and your weekend is full of rest, enjoyment, and hearing from God.
If you have little kids, have you ever noticed how they copy you? They may copy you to be funny or just copy you because they are following your example. The Bible says we are supposed to copy God like little kids copy their parents. Ephesians 5:1 (AMPC) says, “Therefore be imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].”
Well, what ways are we supposed to copy Him and follow His example? One of the ways is through the words that we speak. Our words govern our lives. Our words steer our lives. Our words have creative power. As we covered this week, in order for Abraham to experience his miracle, God changed the way he spoke about himself.
When God changed Abram’s name to Abraham, he put Abraham in a position to imitate Him. The name Abraham means “father of many nations".” Every time that Abraham identified himself, he was calling things that be not as though they were. (Romans 4:17)
This is how we are supposed to live our lives. Consistently identifying with God’s promises and calling things that do not exist as though they did. Our words shouldn’t always be reactive. They should be productive and creative.
Let’s follow the example of our Heavenly Father today, this weekend, and every day. Let’s align our words with His promises and use our words to steer our lives like we learned from James 3. Let’s retrain the way we speak by regularly speaking confessions and affirmations based on God’s Word. (If you missed any of our previous newsletters on this subject, you can view them here.)
In today’s podcast, I lead you in even more confessions and affirmations that will help you identify with God’s promises of healing. These confessions and affirmations are from a book I use to build my faith, confidence, and to make sure I am saying the right thing. (Some of you have reached out for more information about the book. It is called God’s Creative Power by Charles Capps and you can order it with a 15% discount here. )
Will you stream the podcast and say these affirmations along with me? They will help you identify with God’s promises and steer your life in the right direction. Stream today’s podcast devotional on YouTube, Apple Podcast or Spotify and pre-order your copy of the Rhythm of Rest.
