We are less than six weeks away from the official launch of my new book, The Rhythm of Rest. The excitement is building around this release! Guess what?
Due to the topic, excitement and expectation of the book, my publisher has asked to release a workbook and an e-course to go along with the book! Wow! In addition to those important resources, I am also releasing a special limited edition podcast called The Rhythm of Rest. (You can subscribe to the new podcast here.)
This weekend is the last day to sign up for The Rhythm of Rest Men’s Roundtable & Retreat. Men, if you want to attend this retreat, please sign up below.
Lastly, if you haven’t pre-ordered your copy of the Rhythm of Rest, you can do so here. Let’s get to today’s devotional!
A man's stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; [From] the produce of his lips he shall be filled. 21 Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:20-21 (NKJV)
I am the salt of the earth. I am the light of this world. Jesus said it so I believe it. I am a carrier of the Glory of God. Today, I will experience the extreme goodness of God. Today, I make myself available for God to show His goodness to others through me. Today, I am increasing in influence. Today, I will see the goodness of God in my life! Today, something good is going to happen to me so I expect miracles.
Good Morning,
Have you ever thought that Abraham had to change the way he thought in order to receive his miracle? He did! If Abraham had to change his mentality, then guess what? We do too!
Rom 4:19-21 (NKJV) says “And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.”
I want to draw your attention to the word, “consider.” Consider does not mean to think about. In this context, the word means to fill your mind with. Abraham did not fill his mind with the facts that he and his wife were too old to have a child. I am sure the thought occurred to him regularly. However, he did not allow it to fill his mind.
What did he fill his mind with? God’s promise. He kept giving God glory believing that God was going to keep His word and fulfill His promise.
In Romans 4, Paul shows definitions for weak faith and strong faith. A person with weak faith allows their mind to be filled the circumstances and all the reasons why it is impossible for God’s Word to come to pass. A person with strong faith fills their mind with God’s promises and makes the decision to thank God in advance.
Where are you today? Weak or strong faith? Did you know you can be strong in faith in one area and weak in another? Wouldn’t it be fair to say we all need to grow in our faith? Yes, we do. So let’s do so together. Faith in the Morning exists to help you start your day with faith and encouragement. Together, we are growing in faith and going into the wonderful future God has for us. What’s our takeaway for today’s devotional? This weekend, pay attention to your thoughts. Not just the ones that randomly occur. I want you to give special attention to the thoughts you grab onto and continually think about. If you notice that it is negative and contrary to God’s promise, check it. How? Say aloud, “God is faithful. What He promised me is coming to pass. I refuse to think negatively. That’s not my thought. I rebuke and bind that thought in the name of Jesus.”
Now, you don’t have to yell that powerful statement. However, you need to say it or something close to that. You do not fight thoughts with thoughts. You fight thoughts with words.
You may find out that you have to say that statement different times throughout the day. That’s fine. Nothing is wrong with you. It’s part of the process of shifting the way you think. It takes work. But, guess what? It’s worth it and I know that you can do it!
