Today’s Scripture 🍞

For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he [is] a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6 And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

Faith In The Morning Daily Affirmation 🌅

I am the salt of the earth. I am the light of this world. Jesus said it so I believe it. I am a carrier of the Glory of God. Today, I will experience the extreme goodness of God. Today, I make myself available for God to show His goodness to others through me.  Today, I am increasing in influence. Today, I will see the goodness of God in my life! Today, something good is going to happen to me so I expect miracles.

Good Morning,

Our words can either become trees of life or they can be used to set our lives on fire! Look at what James says in James 3:5-6 (NKJV), “Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.”

When your tongue is uncontrolled, it can set your life on fire with the fire of hell. I know you do not want that. As I have emphasized over the last few weeks, we have to understand the importance of our words. If we want to enjoy the life Jesus has provided for us, we need to train our mouths to speak in ways that line up with God’s Word.

Remember, Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” (NKJV). Speak life to yourself today. Speak life into your family, community, and co-workers. When we apply the three keys of James 1:19, we will have greater control of our words.

Remember, the three keys of James 1:19 are:

🔑 Be Quick To Hear

🔑 Be Slow To Speak

🔑 Be Slow To Wrath

Pray this prayer with me today, “Father, thank you for loving me. I thank you that all your promises are trustworthy. This will be a successful month for me. I ask for your help and your wisdom as I journey through this month. I thank you that you never leave me nor forsake me. I thank you that you hear and answer prayer. You are my source and the Holy Spirit leads me and guides me into all truth. Help me to move forward and accomplish my goals and the things I need to handle this month. Help me to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath. The fruit of meekness and self-control are working mightily in me. I receive your help, wisdom, and strength. Thank you! In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
