I am the salt of the earth. I am the light of this world. Jesus said it so I believe it. I am a carrier of the Glory of God. Today, I will experience the extreme goodness of God. Today, I make myself available for God to show His goodness to others through me.  Today, I am increasing in influence. Today, I will see the goodness of God in my life! Today, something good is going to happen to me so I expect miracles.

Welcome to October!  This is going to be an Outstanding October for you! I’m so thrilled that you are reading today’s newsletter!

The phrase, “Outstanding October” has been stirring in my heart for a few weeks now. What does outstanding mean? It means to be remarkable, excellent, and exceptionally good!

As I was thinking about the phrase on Sunday, I began to understand even more. While we were praying and worshipping the Lord, this truth came to my heart: what will make October outstanding are the open doors, opportunities, and breakthroughs God brings our way!

Wow! This month, I am expecting an Outstanding October because of the open doors, opportunities, and breakthroughs He brings my way. Here are three things you must know concerning this month and what God desires to do in your life this month:

Do not judge the door based on the lack of opposition or challenging circumstances. God very well may open a door for you in the midst of challenging circumstances. Remember what Paul said about Ephesus. He said, “There is a wide-open door for a great work here, although many oppose me.” (1 Cor 16:9 NLT)

Ephesians 5:15-17 says, “So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.”

A lot of people like to talk about how evil and troublesome the days we live in are. However, what does the Bible teach us to do during days like these?  Take advantage of every opportunity God brings our way. 

God will bring us opportunities to advance and opportunities to rest. We must take advantage of both of them to be able to accomplish the plan of God for our life. I share more about this in my brand new book, Rhythm of Rest. (It releases next week. Order your copy today!)

Sometimes people miss the opportunities God has for them because they do not recognize them. It reminds me of the manna in the wilderness. God open the heavens and poured out provision. However, His people did not know what it was. That’s why they called it manna which means “what is this?”

Moses had to instruct them that it was the food God provided for them. It is very possible for God to pour out provision and opportunities all around people and for them not to notice it. To make sure you recognize God’s provision and opportunities, you need to pray the Ephesians 1 prayer, spend time in the Word and prayer daily, daily read devotionals like this one, and follow the directions of the Spirit when He leads you to times of fasting or extended prayer.

2 Samuel 5:18-25 (NLT) says, “The Philistines arrived and spread out across the valley of Rephaim. 19 So David asked the LORD, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The LORD replied to David, “Yes, go ahead. I will certainly hand them over to you.” 20 So David went to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. “The LORD did it!” David exclaimed. “He burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So he named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”). 21 The Philistines had abandoned their idols there, so David and his men confiscated them. 22 But after a while the Philistines returned and again spread out across the valley of Rephaim. 23 And again David asked the LORD what to do. “Do not attack them straight on,” the LORD replied. “Instead, circle around behind and attack them near the poplar trees. 24 When you hear a sound like marching feet in the tops of the poplar trees, be on the alert! That will be the signal that the LORD is moving ahead of you to strike down the Philistine army.” 25 So David did what the LORD commanded, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.”

God has breakthrough for you!  In the same way God broke through (burst through) for David, He can break through for you. Learn the lesson of David.

Instead of doing what he thought, he inquired of the Lord. He asked God for His plan. When the same situation happened again, instead of doing what he did last time, he went back to the Lord. Breakthrough is connected to you following the plan of God and continually operating in His wisdom.  (Check out the additional resources below concerning breakthrough.)

Can God really do this for you? Yes, He can! Remember, He is the God who does wonders (Psalm 77:14), great wonders (Psalm 136:4), wonders without number (Job 9:10), and is able to do far above anything you can pray for, ask, or imagine according to the power at work in you. (Eph 3:20)

Help me to upgrade my daily routine, stay focused, and move forward in your plan. I ask for wisdom, direction, and for you to flood my understanding with light. I receive your help, wisdom, and strength. Thank you! In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
