Setting Yourself Up For Unprecedented Favor

He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks [evil].

Proverbs 11:27 (NKJV)

Good Morning!

Yesterday, we began to unpack the wisdom of Proverbs 11:27. In Proverbs 11:27, it says that the person who earnestly seeks good will find favor. The phrase of earnestly seeking good comes from the Hebrew word that paints the picture of someone rising early to start a task and pursuing that task with discipline and focus. We should pursue what is good with the passion this Hebrew word describes.

In following the wisdom of Proverbs 11:27, we should be those who seek what is good and are passionate about doing good. Those who choose to live in the way God describes as good and are actively seeking the good of others are setting themselves up for a lifestyle of favor. When you seek the good of others, you are extending kindness, favor, and grace to them. What happens when you show kindness, favor, and grace to others? It returns to you in a multiplied fashion. (Luke 6:38).

It’s easier to believe for favor and unexpected kindness when you practice showing it to others. Now, I want to offer a clarification. Showing favor is like sowing a seed. We show favor and kindness because we have the fruits of the Spirit of kindness and goodness operating in our lives. When we sow favor, we are not expecting that person to return the favor. It would be nice and even great if they would, but our expectation is not in them. Our expectation and hope is in God.

We have to be known as those who are consistently doing good whether people return the favor or not. Our good works shine light into the lives of others and cause them to give glory to God. (Matthew 5:12-14). When we decide to be good and kind to others, we are allowing God’s love to work through us and open their hearts to our Heavenly Father. Today, make the decision to be good and kind to others. Look for ways to be a blessing. Even if it is in a seemingly small way. Living this way is an important step in the upward cycle of favor we have been discussing over the last week.

We are in this journey of better understanding favor together.  I describe it as a journey because I am convinced there is more for us to learn, put into practice, and experience. From time to time, at the bottom of the newsletter, I add a link to a message that I’m currently listening to that I believe will encourage you as well. Today’s link is to a message on favor by Rev. Jerry Savelle. I believe that message will help all of us on our journey together.

As we grow in understanding and application, I know we will see the marvelous results of God’s favor in our lives. Pray this prayer with me today, “Father, thank you for your favor. I believe it surrounds me as a force field. I ask for greater levels of you favor to manifest in my life. Lord, help us grow in understanding of your favor so that we can live in the upward cycle of favor. I ask that you show us how we all can be wise stewards of your favor. Your favor makes the difference in our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Thank you for starting your day with Faith in the Morning. We love you and are praying for you. Have a miraculous day!
