Position Yourself For Surprise Favor
He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks [evil].
Proverbs 11:27 (NKJV)
Good Morning!
God wants to pour out His favor upon your life in surprising ways! In Proverbs 11:27, it says that the person who earnestly seeks good will find favor. The phrase of earnestly seeking good comes from the Hebrew word that paints the picture of someone rising early to start a task and pursuing that task with discipline and focus. We should pursue what is good with the passion this Hebrew word describes.
Following God’s plan for your life with this passion, focus, and discipline is one way to follow the wisdom of Proverbs 11:27. I have found that as I pursue what God has called me to do, He pours out His favor upon me and my family.
Last year, I was attending a convention and recording episodes for the Faith+ podcast. It was a long day. I drove into town early in the morning, took my family to the hotel, went to the convention, and began a long day of recording and interviews. In one of my breaks, I checked on my family to see how they were doing. They shared with me how their day was going. They were looking forward to spending the day outside and enjoying the pool, however it began to storm interrupting their plans. While they were thinking about a new plan, a hotel employee greeted them and gave them special access to arcade. Instead of charging them, my family was granted hours of free time to play in the hotel arcade. They could play whatever game they wanted, for as long they wanted, at no charge. Needless to say, my family had a great time. It was the favor of God.
As my family told me the story, I shared the story with those who were standing with me in the podcast studio. Some with me expressed their amazement at the favor. Another commented that stories like this happen to our family all the time. As we discussed the story, I took it as God showing my family favor as I followed His instructions. As a family, we pray for favor, believe for favor, pursue good, and find favor. If God will do it for us, He will certainly do it for you!
Part of the cycle of favor we discussed last week is being a person who is consistently pursuing what is good. When pursuing good becomes your lifestyle, you will find surprising favor as your habitual experience. Today, pray for favor, believe for favor, and keep moving forward in what God has called you to do. As a result, you will find small and grand examples of favor filling your life.
We are in this journey of better understanding favor together. As we grow in understanding and application, I know we will see the marvelous results of God’s favor in our lives. Pray this prayer with me today, “Father, thank you for your favor. I believe it surrounds me as a force field. I ask for greater levels of you favor to manifest in my life. Lord, help us grow in understanding of your favor so that we can live in the upward cycle of favor. I ask that you show us how we all can be wise stewards of your favor. Your favor makes the difference in our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Thank you for starting your day with Faith in the Morning. We love you and are praying for you. Have a miraculous day!
